Benjamin David Viney

Hello! I'm an artist currently studying a two year extended national diploma and am planning to go to university next year. Although I'm a young artist I have already been lucky enough to have the opportunity of working at the Tate Modern on the Uniliver Tate modern Series. The reason for starting up this blog is because I have arrived at the end of my course and have begun my Final Major Project. This blog is designed to showcase my final piece which will be exhibited in May at the Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent.

My current project is called ‘Seeing Double’ and is looking into four main concepts Multiplication, Collection, Repetition and Reflection.

Beware 50:1 Survival Rate

So Many Balloons

Admittedly this was quite fun and almost doesn't qualify as art but it does look into the same concepts of repetition, multiplication and the way that it reacts within space. The idea was to creat some interesting form using balloons and then implement the structure into my studio environment and then film the results to see how people interacted with it.

At the start of the project there were about 50 balloons but little did I know that the balloons that I had bought had a remarkable propensity for exploding when I least expected! unfortunately some of the girls in my studio started screaming when the balloons exploded so I was forced to remove my installation and instead chose to make a sound piece out the the noises that the balloons could make. There are now only 2 Balloons remaining.
